What happened??? Up until now, Daisy has always LOVED playing in the snow as much as we do. Now, suddenly, she doesn’t like it at all! Doesn’t that go completely against the Doggy Handbook??
We’ve been anxiously waiting for a good snowfall this winter. We had a lot of little teasers – little dustings of flurries – but a couple of weeks ago we were finally braced for a full-blown snowstorm.
And we got it. A wonderful, sparkling, frosty 8 inches of it. 🙂
We couldn’t wait to take Daisy out into the snow to play. We got all our gear ready….
She seemed mesmerized by the deep white stuff lying outside the door, and she got all excited when her harness and leash made their appearance.
But once DD carried her outside and put her down in the snow, she just stood there in her little winter coat, frozen in place. Then, to our surprise, she turned around and pulled toward the door.
Weird. So DD picked her up and brought her further into the yard, then put her down and started running with her.
Daisy went part way out, then stopped abruptly, turned, and raced back toward the door. She wanted no part of that icy winter wonderland.
So where’s the mischief? Well, I guess there really isn’t any on Daisy’s part, but if I had to point a finger, I’d say it’s those mischievous little ice balls that collect all over Daisy’s tummy and between her pads. Because this…..
….inevitably leads to this….
….which led to this….
….and then this….
So maybe it’s not such a mystery after all as to why Daisy no longer wants to romp in the snow. 😉

Oh poor Daisy. I guess I can understand why snow doesn’t seem that charming to her! 🙂
I guess all of our tastes change throughout the years. She doesn’t like the hot summer either – now THAT’S something I understand!
Maybe there was a little bit too much snow for Daisy!
Definitely! Quite a difference from last year, when her winter motto was “no snow is too deep for fun”!
Oh Daisy I quite agree with you – 8 inches is just too much. But your baby bear gloves are supercute ;o)
Thank you Easy! I don’t like wearing them, I do a weird high-step when they’re on. 🙂
Ha! Daisy, you look very cute in all those pictures. We don’t blame you for not wanting to play in the snow. Sometimes it’s just too cold!
Oink oink,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig
Oh Daisy,
Have you become wise to what comes AFTER the fun in the snow? Love your robe buddy 🙂
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
Thanks Snoopy! Yeah, sometimes the aftermath just isn’t worth it. 😉
If I were as tiny as Daisy, I’d probably also not want to go into the snow, dragging my poor tummy over all that cold stuff. And then, to be humiliated with baths and wraps and all – well, definitely your mischief – not hers 🙂
Haha She’ll like that perspective! Last year she loved deep snow, but I guess she’s getting wisdom with age. 😉
That happens to Torrey too. But I just hate being cold. Brrrrr
This is a change for Daisy, but she was only 2 last year so maybe her “good sense” has taken over. 😉
I have small dogs too, and they like a small snow. But we got 12″ of snow yesterday, and it’s deeper than they are tall. They aren’t having any fun, either. My guess is that they don’t like the snow up against their … underbelly. Even in a coat, their private parts are exposed — and cold! They have chosen to be terrific snugglers inside, instead. They’ll play outside another day!
I always wondered how dogs of any size could stand having cold snow on their tummies, but they all seem to enjoy playing in it anyway. Daisy LOVED it last year, we couldn’t get her to come inside, and it was deeper than this! She was romping up, over and through it. I guess she’s becoming an old lady a little be early. 😉
LOL, DOL, SWL, ROTFWL, LOLROTFDWL!!!
Imagine that as a medium-bear-gloves-owner, you have a wonderful, sparkling, frosty 45 inches of snow and you are forced to run in it by the large-bear-gloves-owner. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm?
That pouty face kills me! Guess Daisy is just a summer-time girl.
Early summer, fall and spring are Daisy’s outdoor times. She hates temperature extremes – she’s disliked July and August temps since she was a puppy and absolutely refused to go outside!
The photos are just great! Bless her heart…she was COLD! I think it’s a sign of maturity to know when you’ve just had enough. 🙂 That is a lot of snow and it looks very cold to me, but I must admit, it also looks really beautiful! I hope the roof is repaired? It also looks heavy!
Fortunately it was a light snow here, but much heavier farther north. Nope, the roof still hasn’t been repaired, but the roofer said we’re on his schedule for this Wednesday and Thursday. Of course, they’re now predicting a major storm for Wednesday…. 😦
Oh poor Daisy! I’m jealous of your snow, but my dogs certainly wouldn’t be jealous of the bath!
Haha no, I don’t think any dog envies a bath! 🙂
Awww – sorry you didn’t enjoy the snow! Maybe next time, right?
We hope so – we love snow and would love to enjoy it with Daisy again!
Woof! Woof! But it was FUN. Happy Monday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
It was fun for us, not sure if it was so much fun for Daisy LOL!
Ha! It must be tough when the show is as deep as she is tall!
We use Musher’s Secret on our dogs’ feet to prevent the snow and ice from balling up between their pads – it works great!
I never heard of Musher’s Secret, but I’m sure going to look for it now. Thanks Jen!
Oh, ice balls on the tummy doesn’t sound like fun at all! Cute pics though!
Happy MM!
Thank you Jackie! Our last dog had it much worse – she had very long hair and long icicles plus rows of heavy ice balls would hang from her poor tummy. But she LOVED playing in the snow and nothing deterred her!
Never seen it – don’t want to go in it!
HAHAHA!!!! I think you’d have a blast! And think how you could fool your family by getting covered in white! 😉
wow…look at that snow!!! so white but looks so freezing!
I can understang how Daisy feels about it.
I love her outfits…dogs sure have cute clothing. I wish they make one for turtles too 😉
Maybe you should start a Turtlewear line of tiny clothes! 😉
I wonder how many Turtle parents are crazy enough to buy it 😉
Daisy looks SO cute in her robe!
A friend of ours gave it to her last Christmas – we call it her “spa robe” LOL!
Daisy’s adventures never disappoint, that’s for sure!
And they never stop either!
I don’t know what all the fuss is about with the snow. Our Lucy simply loves the snow and somehow the remains of it will go away …
What a LOT of snow! That looks like hard work for a little dog!
Apparently it was too much work for Daisy to have any fun at all! 😉
