Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Holiday Daisy

I think Daisy deliberately waited until the holiday season to throw her disk out of whack so she wouldn’t be forced to:

  • wear her reindeer antlers
  • wear her candy cane jingle collar
  • partake in tree decorating (aka being wrapped in garland and lights)
  • or any of the other humiliating fun Christmas traditions she tolerates enjoys.

But in the spirit of the season, I’m going to post some pictures I never got a chance to put up last year of our Daisy stealing water originally destined for the Christmas tree. In Daisy’s mind, water in anything other than her bowl is “special water” and is irresistible!

What's that over there with the water in it?

I'll just keep it company...I'm not doing anything...

Happy Havachon Halloween!

Fall and Halloween go hand-in-hand around here. It’s my favorite season and it’s tied with Christmas as my favorite holiday. And since my birthday is October 30 – yes, Mischief Night! Bwahaha! – there’s lots of extra celebrating going on. 🙂 So I enjoy every precious second of it.

From our vet’s highly decorated office (notice the fireplace – it used to be a house, and he kept it warm and homey):

vet's autumn

vet's in autumn

To walks in my favorite park:

autumn tree red

This tree is actually quite red, but my smartphone isn’t smart enough to get the color right!

autumn trees with geese

To visits to those wonderful family-owned garden centers:

pumpkins at farm

mums in bloom

CASHIER!!!!!

CASHIER!!!!!

And last but certainly not least, Daisy’s attempt at striking fear into our hearts with her definitive Mark of the Vampire:

See Mom? I told you there was a canine vampire here! ::heeheehee!::

See Mom? I told you I turn into a vampire at night! ::heeheehee!::

I look innocent when I'm cuddling with my pumpkin, Jack. But I'm really hiding vampire fangs...

Happy Birthday Daisy!!

Yep, it’s official – Daisy turned FIVE on Friday! Yes, it was Friday the 13th, but for us, it’s a good luck day because that’s the day that our little sweetie was born. 😀

Daisy the Furry Caterpillar at 2.6 months old.

Daisy got big “good morning” greetings, and she actually seemed extra excited, as if she knew it was a special day. She jumped higher, romped, and did little ram-like jumps over absolutely nothing. 😀

Daisy loves over-the-shoulder hugs!

We started celebrating early with an extra long morning excursion out and about, despite the muddy grounds.

Daffodils should be shooting up in our flower garden, but instead we just have a muddy pool.

We couldn’t wait to give her her present – she de-stuffed poor Pinkie last week, but she loved him so much that we got her Pinkie’s little brother, Baby Blue.

Daisy didn’t let go of Baby Blue all day.

Since one of Daisy’s favorite things is paper bags, we put Baby Blue into a long paper bag, scrunched up the end, and turned her present-opening into a homemade “mental exercise” toy. She had a blast and it took her a little while to figure it out.

Daisy’s day was full of kisses, cuddles and mushies. I think she’s already looking forward to her next birthday!

Daisy gives lovies too!

Daisy’s Christmas Tradition

We have two Christmases here in the Daisy family – one out of state with family, and our favorite one (which we call our real Christmas) here at home with just the four of us.

But Daisy has one tradition that she honors no matter where we celebrate – we call it “paper herding”:

Look at all the pretty paper presents I've collected!

Look at all the pretty wrapping paper presents I’ve collected!

Let's see...one...two...three...yep, looks like they're all here...

Let’s see…one…two…three…yep, looks like they’re all here…

And then, of course, comes our annual Christmas tradition…

Oh, I HATE this part of the holidays!

...plotting....plotting...plotting...

…plotting….plotting…plotting…

We hope all our blogging buddies had fun Christmases too! Do your pets have any holiday traditions?

A Happy Havachon Christmas!

My computer is in the Geek Squad Hospital and has been for the past week, which is why I’ve been absent from the blogosphere. Hopefully I’ll get it back before 2015! I’m borrowing DD’s computer to put up my final post for 2014, which I had already done (thankfully!).

When we decorate for Christmas, we really get into the decorations – literally!

We’re all wrapped in garland

Do we have to do this EVERY year???

Do we have to do this EVERY year???

Or lights

Daisy's all lit up for Christmas!

I love how the color from the lights spreads through her white fur, just like snow-covered outdoor lights!

Sometimes the decorations get into us, like when this branch we cut from the bottom of the tree decided to turn DD and Daisy into reindeer:

DD's impression of a new age reindeer....

....and Daisy's impression of a canine reindeer!

This year I found a treasure within the Christmas tree as I was putting the lights up. I felt like the tree was giving us a gift of the season – nature’s beauty.

Rarely do we find a beautiful little pine cone nestled within the tree branches - a true gift from nature!

This will probably be our last post for 2014, so we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a very happy and healthy new year!

A Merry Misaki Greeting!

Daisy got her first blog-buddy Christmas card this year from her good friend Misaki! She was so excited and wants to frame Misaki’s pretty picture to put up over her dog bed. 🙂

Did you see this great Christmas card Misaki sent me? I'm reading it now!

Heehee Doesn't Misaki take a beautiful picture?

I'm sending Misaki lots of puppy Christmas kisses!

We were not as efficient as Misaki in getting out our holiday greetings early – ours went out to the Misaki family only the day before we got theirs….and we thought that was early! (oops!) I guess I forgot that I needed to allow extra time for the postal service to get packages across the pond. It’s coming, Misaki! We didn’t forget! 😀

As I’m sure is the case with everyone else, we’re in the throes of holiday craziness here in the Daisy household, but since we’re decorating a newly designed living room/dining room/hallway/foyer, it’s extra fun this year.

Hope you’re all enjoying the holiday season too! Today we’re part of the Thursday Barks & Bytes blog hop!

Monday Mischief: Unexpected Dinner Guests

Hi friends! Daisy here.

We had some unexpected guests visit us for dinner the other day. If you ask me, I think it’s rude to just pop in on someone for dinner. Shouldn’t they let us know they were coming so we could make sure we had enough for them to eat?

Well it turns out we had plenty for them. Just one came at first….

Proud as a peacock...er, I mean turkey....

Proud as a peacock…er, I mean turkey…. Staking a claim on his dinner plate.

Walking to and fro, surveying his buffet while nibbling.

Apparently Daddy had put a lot of grass seed down in the dirt patch where we had the tree removed, and Mr. Turkey discovered it. But he’s a generous old dude and shared it with his clan:

Everyone came to the table for their own pre-Thanksgiving "paleo" dinner.

Everyone came to the table for their own pre-Thanksgiving “paleo” dinner.

He must be the grandpappy of them all, because he was the biggest and his tail feathers were a gorgeous variety of patterns and colors. The white one was also incredible. Even after the rest of the team left, Grandpa stayed and ate for the better part of an hour.

Fortunately Daddy put a LOT of seed down and we still have a nice velvety covering of green on the patch. But it was fun to watch and a good excuse to bark LOUD!!!! 😉

Decorated Daisy, The Holiday Havachon

Daisy may be limping her way through the holidays, but that’s not dampening her Christmas spirit! She was eager to get into – literally “into” – the fun of decorating:

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" :)

I’m beginning to look a lot like Christmas” 🙂

As a variation from wrapping herself in garland while we were decorating, this year DD adorned herself with silvery prismatic curlicues:

DD's Christmas curls!

And Mother Nature has been cooperating by giving us a beautiful wintry setting for our outdoor lights:

I love the look of colorful Christmas lights gleaming through the snow. These are in our front yard.

I had to laugh when I looked out the kitchen window and realized that from that perspective, a portion of our lights look like a big Christmas smile:

Smiling Christmas lights :)

Smiling Christmas lights 🙂

We’re going into Christmas overdrive here at Casa Daisy, so it may be a couple of weeks before we can post again. But we’ll try to visit our blog friends if at all possible. In the meantime, we wish everyone

MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, AND A HEALTHY, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Daisy Gets In The Christmas Spirit

Daisy got her first Christmas card of the season, and she really enjoyed it! She was so engrossed in it that she would only give me a little peek over the top:

I love my Christmas card!

And then she got so excited about the upcoming holiday that she decided to put on a little Christmas finery.

I feel so Christmassy!
