Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Early Monday Mischief: Mommy Was Born for Mischief!

We’re about to get hit hard with Hurricane Sandy – we’re in the epicenter geographically, so we’re posting on Sunday instead of Monday because there’s every chance we won’t have power for quite some time starting tonight or tomorrow. The storm is starting tonight (Sunday) and lasting through Wednesday morning – we’ve got a  long, scary road ahead of us! If you don’t see us online for a few days, it’s because this so-called “life-threatening Frankenstorm” has taken us down for a while. Good luck to any of our fellow bloggers who are also in the target area of the northeast!

Meanwhile, Daisy is hijacking the blog today.

Hi Blog Buddies! Daisy here. And I’m going to tell you a secret about Mommy today.

My mom really was born for mischief because she was born on Mischief Night! (Tuesday is her birthday, but she won’t let me tell you WHICH birthday it is! Heehee!) How could she doubt I would follow along?! I like to tell her that all my mischief is in honor of her birthday. 😉

Well, I guess her mischievous birthday isn’t really a secret, but did you know that sometimes she gets a mischievous little gleam in her eye? When I see that, I know something’s up, but I never know what it is until it happens.

Like the time she put that Halloween skirt on me.

You’re taking Havachon humiliation to a whole new level….

Or the time she made me wear the “spa bathrobe” after my bath.

This is ridiculous……

Or when she took a picture of me soaking wet after my bath – not a girl’s best look!

This is NOT my best look!

But I know she does these things in good fun, so I go along with it. After all, if I didn’t have a good sense of humor about it, I’d have chewed up her camera by now, right? 😉

We’re part of the Monday Mischief blog hop!

Dog-Safe Foods Website

We’re constantly checking online to see whether certain fruits and foods are safe for Daisy. She’s always on Kitchen Patrol just waiting for a morsel to drop.

You do know I’m here on Kitchen Cleanup Patrol, right? Don’t worry about any mess, I’ll take care of it for you.

Hey, don’t forget me! How about a little carrot toss, eh?

Recently we discovered a site called Ask A Vet Question that answers most of our questions in an alphabetical, easy-to-read list.

Not only that, but you can look at answers to tons of other questions submitted by pet owners. Each question also has an identification box with the type of pet, breed, and pet’s age. It can really help when you’re freaking out about something your pet ate or a reaction he/she is having – you’ll be more able to determine whether to run to the emergency vet or if you can calm down and ride out the storm.

It’s such a helpful site, we wanted to pass it along to all our blog buddies! 🙂

Now let’s see, I just licked up what Mom calls “peach juice” – will my tummy start to rumble?

Monday Mischief: Daisy Loses Face

Have you ever seen a faceless puppy? Well, apparently we now have one.

This is Daisy’s new favorite snuggle position, especially now that the weather’s getting cooler. She curls up and tucks in every part of herself that she can, including her little face.

Where did that sweet little face go? And how does she breathe in there??

Now she does almost this every single time she snoozes. It’s probably a way for her to stay warmer, but I think it serves a double purpose….she knows she won’t be blinded by the camera flash!

Hehehe….aren’t I the sly one! No camera flashes for me!

If we didn’t know any better, we’d think she was just a big mass of hair mixed in with some blankets!

We Appreciate Readers!

Our new friend Zena, who writes The Princess Tails, has made our day with a new award!

Zena is a beautiful Tibetan Terrier whose blog is so much fun to read. She’s adjusting to the “only dog” life, and doing very well with the help of her loving family.

This award’s “requirements” sounded really formal, so we’re going to casualize (new word LOL) them:

1. Display the award logo on your post/page and/or sidebar.

2. Nominate 14 readers on your blog over a period of 7 days – this can be done at any rate during the week. It can be ALL on one day or a few on one day and a few on another day, etc. (combined #2 and #3, as they were similar)

Okey dokey – here they are. As usual, if you already have this award, then you’re doubly gifted! And if you don’t bother with awards or don’t have time for them, then just know that you’re very much appreciated in our little world. 😀

1. Live. Bark, Love

2. Snoopy’s Dog Blog

3. Basset Momma (please keep positive thoughts and prayers going for her dear hound, Freddie)

4. The Hailey Chronicles

5. Chancy the Gardner

6. Hey Look A Writer Fellow

7. Breathe Lighter

8. Clowie’s Corner

9. Old Sunbird

10. Fluffy Tufts

11. Fabulous Flo

12. Fostrickson

13. Dawson Dogs

14. Jaspers Doggy World

5. The Nominee shall make these rules, or amended rules keeping to the spirit of the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award, known to each reader s/he nominates.

Didn’t quite know how to make that casual….. 😉

4. The Nominee must finish this sentence and post: ”A Great reader is…”

Ah, something new and different! Okay, here we go:

“A great reader is someone (or LOTS of someones!) you bond with from a distance because their comments show they really ‘get’ you.” 🙂

We feel blessed to be blog buddies with so many “great readers”. We may only know each other through our writing, but we’re connected through our love of animals and care about each others victories and challenges.

Thank you for being part of our world!

Monday Mischief: Sock Thief Turns Sock Hoarder!

We know Daisy is a sock thief – in fact, she’s a master sock thief. But now she’s elevating that skill and becoming a sock hoarder!

The other day I found a trail of socks in the living room, and then another in the bedroom. Daisy had stolen all the socks out of the laundry basket and seemed to be laying out paths for herself, like trails of breadcrumbs.

This is just one of Daisy’s sock trails!

The next time we have new guests visiting and someone asks “Where’s the bathroom”, I’m tempted to say “Just follow Daisy’s Sock Trail”. 😉

Yeah, I did this. So what? Any of my fellow Mischief Makers would do the same!
