Hi everyone! We’re finally getting back to normal around here. The holidays were crazy hectic, and not always in a good way. DD started things off with a bad head cold, followed by me getting the flu while traveling (I’m still down and out a bit), DH is now coming down with “something”, and Daisy’s tummy has been doing some nasty things for the past two weeks.
Today we’re in the grip of those frigid temps that are plaguing much of the country. Our actual temperature this morning is 3 degrees, but the wind chill makes it feel like -17! YIKES! I guess if I have to be stuck inside anyway, this is a good time for it happen. 🙂
Meanwhile, we got about 8 inches of snow the other day, and Daisy didn’t want any part of it. We had her trained so well to be an indoor/outdoor dog – she’d do her “thing” outside when we took her out on normal days, but she knew to “take care of business” on the wee-wee pad inside when the weather was really bad.
Well, not anymore. This trip seems to have completely destroyed her cross-training. Now she only wants to go outside, and if she refuses to go because of the weather, she leaves us “presents” anywhere except on the wee-wee pad. We’re trying to retrain her for indoors again, but it’s not working.
Anyway, here’s what happened after the snowfall the other day. One valiant attempt that lasted all of half a minute, and it was all over. It took longer to suit her up!
I’ll take your snow! Woooooowoooooo!
LOL It really is beautiful and we loved playing with our previous dog in the snow, but Daisy’s a whole different type of dog! 😉
I agree with you Daisy, I’m also not a fan of snow. The only funny thing is, that you can write yellow messages in this white cold stuff :o)
Heehee The only message I’m writing is “Take Me Back INSIDE!!” 😉
I always feel bad for dogs that have to go outside to potty. We would always shovel a piece of yard so Roxy could go without getting buried in the snow.
That’s what we ended up doing in the back yard. Still, Daisy hurried so much that we continued to get “presents” in the house. Ugh.
We’re ready for spring here in Chicago as well. Snow is nice, but combined with sub-zero temps? No thanks!
I agree. I like snow, but not coupled with these crazy temps. We brok 100+ year old temperature records here on the east coast!
Short dogs have a worse time of it, for sure! Using all 4 legs now?
We hate snow. We think those pictures of happy dogs in the snow have to be photoshopped.
I can’t blame Daisy for not wanting to go out in that snow, brrrr, looks mighty cold! Is her leg all healed up now?
Her leg is doing much better now Barb, thanks for asking! I plan to do an update post on it soon. She’s limping less but is still afraid to use that leg sometimes, but the vet says that’s pretty much all it is now – fear of pain. He said over the next few weeks she’ll start to forget about being afraid of the pain. 🙂 What a relief to have the worst of this behind us!
I just can’t blame Daisy! You wouldn’t be able to drag me outdoors either. LOL! You poor souls have had such a time of it! I need to quickly wish you a very HEALTHY and peaceful new year. It’s time for a shift in energies, I’m sure you agree. Feel better soon…and I do hope your husband escapes it. As for the weather…I am in complete awe! I don’t think I’d be able to leave the house under any conditions! Brrrr!
LOL I do think it’s easier to be raised in temps like this than to move here later on! We’re hoping that our energies change too. Everyone seems to be sick, though. There are a lot of strong, nasty bugs going around. Ugh.
This weather is not great for potty retraining. We had -14 for the last couple of days and wind chills -35-40. It has been brutal. We have had to take brown dawgs out multiple times and only for a short time.
Brrrrrr! That’s even worse than our temps!
I’m with you all the way, Daisy! No more cold white stuff!
Yay! Another supporter! 😉
Huahahaha…she clearly hates it! Who would choose such cold compare to the warmth inside anyway 😉
Daisy agrees wholeheartedly!
Daisy should see this post 😉 http://dogtreatweb.com/snow-dogs-fbm-56/
Those are great!
Oh no! What if you shovel away a bare spot? Thankfully, Maya and Pierson love the snow and didn’t care if it was below zero. Although, I must admit that one of them peed on the porch rather than going into the yard.
That’s exactly what we did – we dug away a nice 2-foot square on the grass, and that fixed the problem. We still wish Daisy would be a “cross-trained” doggy again though!
Sweet Daisy we are with you, we wouldn’t want to go out in the snow either. Stay nice warm and safe while it so cold and all that snow is on the ground. Hugs and nose kisses
I will Mag! I don’t understand why my family likes this stuff so much, and why they’re so disappointed that I won’t play with them in it!
Send me your snow!!
I’d love to, but my family absolutely refuses to part with it. They love this icy cold stuff!!
I think your staff needs some cross-training, Daisy! I hope this helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYTqW57u8JE
Heehee thank you!
Daisy does look cute in her little coat! Let’s hope it warms up soon… 🙂
We get days of “balmy” 40-degree weather, but snow is on its way again later this week. 🙂
so very cute..I love snow…all we have had this winter is rain and more rain!
Thank you! I’m hoping we get more before the end of winter. 🙂
Oh poor Daisy, can totally understand why you don’t like the snow. Ozzy and Milo fret about having to go on wet grass.
They definitely wouldn’t like snow then! Daisy goes on wet grass, but then we fret about cleaning up her paws! And oh, that “wet doggy” smell is not something we look forward to!
Hey Daisy
I’ll swap you for a day, all we ever get is sunshine – I’d love me some snow!
Stay warm
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
I think you’d have tons of fun in the snow, Snoopy! Maybe if I had you here to play with, I’d like the snow more too! 🙂
