Daisy’s travel adventure continues….
During our long car ride south, we discovered another side to Daisy – she’s the Houdini of Havachons!
There we were, innocently riding along, music playing, DD reading in the back seat, when suddenly we hear DD cry out, “Daisy! How did you get over here?!”
Daisy had quietly and imperceptibly escaped from not one, but BOTH of her harnesses! We test the fit of her regular harness and her car harness every time we put them on her – they were snug when we put her in the car. Really. They were. (This dog can make us doubt ourselves sometimes!)
DD had suddenly felt a little paw poking her leg, asking for permission to snuggle on her lap. She looked up and there was Daisy, standing next to her “naked” – Â no harness on her at all!
We couldn’t figure out how she did it. The next day, she did it again. But the third time, DD caught her in action. Daisy quietly pulled her shoulders in tight, making herself as narrow as possible, then slowly started pulling one leg backward, slipping it through the harness opening.
That’s exactly the kind of move Houdini used!
Suddenly we heard a loud “NOOOO!” from the back seat; fortunately I had my camera on my lap and saw Daisy caught in the act with that telltale “deer in the headlights” expression – you can see her front leg has been moved back a few inches and her shoulder was partly behind the harnesses:
Once DD knew Daisy’s trick, she kept one eye on Daisy all the time and stopped her before she got too far into her new escape routine. I guess we’ll always have to make sure someone is sitting in the back seat with Daisy – there’s no telling what new moves she’ll come up with! 😉
I always said that Daisy was a smart one and now apparently we found out she may be double jointed. 😆
LOL I have a feeling we’re in for years of new revelations! This pup seems to have lots of tricks up her sleeve….uh, fur…. 😀
That Daisy is one smart Cookie!
A little TOO smart, if you ask me! 😉
Hey Daisy,
Did they underestimate your abilities? Don’t they know how clever and agile you are?!
I used to do the same thing if there was any sign of give in my harness, one time I made it across a whole row of seats and onto the kids lap before they could pull over and put me back in!!
Unfortunately I haven’t felt the slightest bit of give in a long time and I’m stuck these days – Doh!! Believe me, I always check – Tee Hee 🙂
Have a fun day,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
PS – I love the change to your site, very pretty!! 🙂
Thanks Snoopy! Mom says she’s testing out some different templates on WP – there don’t seem to be any she really likes.
Shhh…don’t let them know they underestimate me or my days of mischief will be over! 🙂
Beats me why you are shocked at what Daisy did – you KNOW how smart she is! It doesn’t take her long to work stuff out – little miss clever clogs! teehee 😀
You have to have eyes in the back of your head with Miss Daisy!
She always seems to catch us off guard – she comes up with things we never consider!
btw, I love the new look of your site!
Thanks so much, Barb! 🙂
Daisy,
I have that same nickname….not just for my harness, but out of my bag….my nose is a great tool. i can un zip and do amazing things. It’s fun. They just don’t GET that. We are just up for the challenge.
Ooo, thanks for the tips, Scrappy! My family won’t know what to expect next! 😉
Daisy is such an intelligent and mischievous little dog! What an escape trick she was doing! A truer Houdini could not be found, at least in the canine world! Or should we call her Howl-dini? Lol…Haha 🙂 By the way, I love the new look of your site! 🙂
Thanks Scriptor! LOL I love your word “Howl-dini”, it certainly suits her!
One clever little girl you have there.
I am wondering how the hell I am going to transport Tom over a thusand kms in April!!!
That’s a tough one, Granny! My friends who have cats all say they have to use a cat carrier….they have a hard time getting their cats into them, but they have no choice. Most cats pose a bigger challenge for travel, I’ll be interested to hear how it goes.
Sweet little miss Daisy that is super ingenious you just had to figure out a way to get to those you love on that long ride and you did it. What a smart little cutie you are. Hugs and nose kisses
Heehee I don’t like anything coming between me and my family…including car armrests! 😉
I love the picture. Priceless:) Have a great weekend:)
Thanks Judy! You too!
That is hilarious, and I love that “sh#t you caught me” look.
I was laughing so hard at that expression on Daisy’s face that I thought for sure the picture would be blurry! 🙂
Almost succeeded, did she? That’s one entertaining canine!
She succeeded twice – the third time was OUR charm! 😉
aww 🙂 houdini is right!
LOL She keeps us laughing, that’s for sure! 🙂
Caught in the act! That sounds like me. The humans tried to put me in a harness and trap me on the back seat and I refused to be part of such nonsense! Go Daisy GO!
Haha You and I think alike, Bunk! Wait ’til they see what I’ve got planned for our next trip! 😉
Oh my! That sounds like a magical moment indeed! Daisy must be a genius. By the way, I noticed the new look to your blog right away. It looks great! I wish you all the best in 2012. 🙂
Thank you so much! We never know what to expect next from Daisy, but we know to expect something! LOL 😉
Daisy, Daisy, Daisy … you silly, smart girlie 🙂
Heehee! 😀
