Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Award Appreciations!

It’s feast or famine here in Daisyville – we were honored with four awards recently!

Thank you so much to trifles for these two awards:

To Marty Manx at Musings by Marty Manx for this award:

shareloveshareboxaward from Speedy Jan 2014

And to Karel at Peace With My Life for the latest Leibster award:

Thank you ShareChair!

Karel came up with several thought-provoking questions for her nominees….let’s see what we can do with these:

  1. Where was your favorite place to live, and why?
My favorite place to live is a place I’ve only visited – but quite frequently. It’s a small town in the mountains of PA, an old town that has the perfect combination of quaintness, community, charm, and trendiness. It’s not easy to strike the perfect balance between retaining and respecting quaint old-world charm while moving forward with modern-day trends like contemporary cafes and restaurants as well as shops in a small town like this, but they’ve done it. And the residents are so friendly and community-minded, which is what I love most. I’d find myself a little cottage by a stream where I could plant wildflowers and move there in a heartbeat if I could.
  2. What books you are currently reading?
That’s a full question because I’m an avid reader of nonfiction. Right now I’m reading “Lady Almina and The Real Downton Abbey” (which leads to the answer about my favorite TV show!), and I have at least a dozen more books waiting in the wings.
  3. Do you think it is better to be honest or kind?
Both. My first choice is always honesty….unless there’s nothing the other person can gain from it and kindness is just, well, kinder.
  4. If you had one day in your life to live over again, would you rather live a day in which you want to change the outcome (like to avoid a mistake) or live a day that was so terrific that you’d like to do it again?
There’s one day in particular that I’d like to relive with the strength and knowledge I now have that I didn’t have then. My reaction to a situation would have been 180 degrees different, which would have changed and improved SO many things for the rest of my life. I often think of how I wish I could relive that moment in time.
  5. If you watch television, what is your favorite series? Yep, Downton Abbey. Hands-down favorite.
  6. What is your favorite song of all times?
Tough question because I love so many diverse types of music. But I’d have to say that it’s equal parts “Rhapsody in Blue”, almost anything Baroque (especially if there’s a harpsichord featured), and many songs by the Rolling Stones heading the long list. See? I told you my tastes are very diverse!

I consulted Daisy about nominations, and she is in agreement that all of our blogging buddies deserve these awards, so if you’re kind enough to take the time to read this, please help yourself to any or all of the awards if you’d like them. We cherish you all!

Sisterhood is a Beautiful Thing!

Before I get into the post below, which I wrote last week, I just wanted to let my blogging buddies know that DH is having surgery tomorrow (Friday) on his rotator cuff and a torn bicep, so needless to say, I’m getting more nervous by the minute. I’ll be at a surgical center with him for 5-6 hours, then home for what the doctor calls “the most painful recovery next to knee surgery”. Besides hating to see a loved one in so much pain for several weeks, I’m praying there will be no complications or post-surgical infections, which have been so frightfully common over the past few years. The doctor claims he prefers the surgical center to hospitals because they’re more sterile and there’s more of a risk of infection at hospitals, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this is the case. If all goes well, I’ll see you all on Mischief Monday.

Now, on with the original post!

We were so happy when we discovered this wonderful new award awaiting us from our blogging buddies Bella and DiDi!

In order to accept it, we have to share seven things about ourselves and then hand out five nominations. Here we go!

1. We don’t need a calendar to know when Daisy’s weekly bath is close – by the end of the week, she either smells like popcorn or Cheese Doodles, depending on how much she’s sweat. Could be worse! 😉

2. Some of Daisy’s nicknames are Nutter Butter, Fluffer Nutter, (notice the “nut” theme!) Lunatic (said with love!), Puppy, Sweet Thing, Little Baby, Pupperdoodles….to start with!

3. I can’t even count the number of times each day that I tell Daisy that I love her. I’ve loved all our pets, but Daisy has completely captured my heart.

4. I smile every time I see a new comment on our blog posts, each comment feels like a little visit from a distant friend. I never realized what a special and unique bond could unite bloggers!

5. Daisy sometimes lets out the most endearing, sweet little high-pitched sound when she’s lying on the couch and changes positions. It’s a tiny, thin, wavering little sound that continues until she settles into her next comfy pose. 😀

6. We shave a little semi-circle beneath Daisy’s  behind so no stinkies get trapped in her long, thick hair. With every stroke of the clipper, she tucks that little behind under just a bit. I can just imagine the expression on her face!

7. Daisy is NOT a heat-loving dog. During the heat of summer, one run around our 3/4 acre property is more than enough for her, thank you.

By way of nomination, we’d like to introduce our friends to these five blogs:

1. Breathe Lighter

2. Meg Travels

3. The Misadventures of Misaki

4. Betty the Bichon

5. Hutch A Good Life

Hope you enjoy their blogs as much as we do! 😀

What Wonderful Surprises!

We were so surprised Tuesday morning to find not one but TWO awards waiting for us! Thank you so much to two of our favorite blogging buddies, Fluffy Popcorn and Misaki!

The new Sunshine Award from The Misadventures of Misaki, a gorgeous Alaskan malamute, just happens to have a beautiful daisy as its symbol – how appropriate! 😀

So here are the rules:

  • Answer the questions that come with it
  • Pass it along to 10 people and let them know they have received it

Here are the questions and our answers:

Favorite number: 2 for Daisy, because 1 treat is just a tease! 2 has always been my favorite number also.

Favorite Non-alcoholic drink: Water is all Daisy gets, so that’s her answer. But I know she’d be a coffee nut like me if she could, because she loves the aroma of coffee and gets extra intense licking the inside of a “to go” ice cream container if there was mocha ice cream in it. Obviously, my answer is coffee, especially Starbucks mocha!

Facebook or Twitter: Not really my favorite things because I do these for my clients, so I don’t do either for myself – too much like work! But I’d have to say Facebook (even though the site drives me nuts) only because I can get more info out on Facebook than Twitter. Daisy agrees. 😉

My Passion: For Daisy, that would be a toss-up between cuddling and playing tug-of-war. For me, it’s archaeology, hands down. I’m fortunate to be able to work at archaeological digs as an avocation, and it’s always new, fun, and exciting.

Favorite pattern: Daisy’s Humane Society fleece blanket would have to have her favorite pattern – she loves that blanket! It’s got paw prints around the edges and cute dogs and cats in the center. For me, it’s those adorable little paw prints left by Daisy. Even if they do mess up my just-washed floor. 🙂

Favorite Day of the Week: Saturday! All the family is together all weekend, but when Saturday comes to a close, we know we still have another family day to go! 😀

Favorite Flower: Well, obviously the daisy for Daisy! For me, it’s the hydrangea, especially in purple/blue. Generally I favor anything with clusters of smaller flowers.

It’s always easy to pass awards on to others, what’s hard is narrowing it down to any small number of people. Like my blogging buddy Barb, I feel everyone deserves all of these awards, so take it if you so desire! But I’ll name 10 other blogs because I find this is a great way to introduce my friends to other blogs they may not have seen.

Cooking Up the Cure

Scriptor Obscura (a passionate writer who should definitely NOT be “obscure”!)

Fluffy Popcorn

Underneath the Shell

Live, Bark, Love

Nala’s Dog Days

Weekends with Charlie

Paws To Talk

Basset Momma

Doggy’s Style

Passionate About Pets

And a third Leibster Blog Award was generously given to us by our friend Fluffy Popcorn, an absolutely adorable toy poodle. This little gal will give you an “awwwww” every day! 😀

The rules of this award are to pass it along to five blogs, so here are a few more we’d like to pass the award along to and introduce you to:

Magsx2’s Blog

Betty the Bichon

Snoopy’s Dog Blog

American Dog Blog

I hope you enjoy discovering some new blogs, and thanks again to our furry friends for recognizing us! 😀 Daisy sends you big puppy licks. 🙂
