Daisy Investigates: What’s going on here?

on October 16, 2014

DH enjoys being a DIY guy, and one of the projects he loves most is tile work. That skill has saved us a ton of money when we redid both bathrooms and the kitchen backsplash ourselves. And he’s really good at it.

So one of the reasons it’s taking weeks longer to get all our renovations done is that DH is re-flooring the foyer on weekends, which takes more time, especially since we have other, more fun things on the weekend calendar as well.

When he started it after the painting was done, he had to pull up 50-year-old mismatched, poorly repaired slate, scrape up whatever was holding them in place, and chip away at stuff with sharp, ear-splitting noises – it was that last part that was the last straw for Daisy. But instead of running away from the horrendous sound, she ran toward it and growled at it.

Mommy, did you hear this racket?

Mommy, did you hear this racket?

Look, it's coming from over here!

Look, it’s coming from over here!

He put up plastic tarps like temporary wallsΒ covering both access points to prevent as much dust as possible from coming into the rest of the house – a bitΒ still got through, of course, and that stuff is murder to clean up. That was another thingΒ Daisy didn’t approve of – being kept out of the area.

Hey, what's this big plastic thing doing up here?

Hey, what’s this big plastic thing doing up here?

Is that Daddy in there? Why is he hiding from me?

Come out, Daddy! I see you in there!

    LOL…She just wants to help!

  2. the best way to get fourlegged company or a bark fest is to place a plastic tarp :o) we tried to cover the dust that way too, nevertheless this darned dust was everywhere. Good luck for your project, I bet it looks great!

pah ha is she giving her orders? That’s just like Millie!
    Hugs, Carrie & Pups x

LOL We’re DIY types and have done a lot of renovation and restoration over the years. Our current dogs steer clear of projects. However, we used to have a black Lab and Spanky was always in the middle of everything. Thanks for reminding me of some good times πŸ™‚

  5. Daisy is sooo cute! I love her playful little pose in the last pic – looks like she wants Dad to put down the tools and come play! πŸ™‚

  6. Such a curious little pupper wupper! Sweet little baby πŸ™‚

  7. I bet Daisy will be happy when the DIY is all done. It sounds like a huge project! Hope you will post a picture. Thanks so much for joining the hop.

  8. So cute – she looks like she just knows he’s having so much fun over there without her – she just wants to help πŸ™‚

  9. scarlybobs says:

    Oh bless her πŸ™‚

I wish my other half was any good at DIY!! πŸ˜€

Daisy is the incarnation of patience. Instead of thinking that her dad has become totally crazy by making terrible noises behind a plastic doodad on four paws (imitating a dog or what??), she wants to play with him! πŸ™‚

  11. Oh I am sure that made for tons of noise for you πŸ™‚ Miss Daisy I bet you told your Pop ALL about it! What adorable pictures of Miss Daisy too! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you Marty’s Mom! πŸ˜€ Oh yes, Daisy made her feelings quite well known! And I’m sure she’ll do it again this weekend – it’ll be “fun” trying to keep those little paws off the wet grout!

      • That and paint seem like magnets! I have a ton of painting that I am gearing up for and plan on having painted kitties and puppies and painted paw marks on my floor where someone will succeed in stepping in my paint tray always!

      • raisingdaisy says:

Hahahaha!!! It’s so true! We kept protecting the wet paint on the walls from Daisy’s sweeping tail, but we had to keep her on leash to stop her from “repainting” everything!

I’m trying to do some renovations to our house. I wish my husband could do DIY stuff, but no such luck!

  13. megtraveling says:

She really is the cutest detective – she finds out what is going on!

    • raisingdaisy says:

Aww thanks Meg! Yes Daisy will investigate anything out of the ordinary until she has it all figured out. It’s so interesting to watch her investigate things she doesn’t understand until she makes a decision that she either doesn’t approve and barks/grumbles at it or decides it’s okay and just walks away. πŸ™‚

  14. How wonderful that your personal DIY guy does such good work! We are in need of some tile work and I’ve been putting it off as long as possible. Daisy is so curious and playful and doesn’t seem to shy away from much. She’s delightful! πŸ™‚

  15. Papoe says:

Daisy’s daddy is so cool, save up a lot of money πŸ˜‰

If I am Daisy, I would jump through that plastic wall

  16. Mags Corner says:

Awww, sweet Daisy wanted so much to help her daddy do that tile work. Your home is going to be so beautiful when it is all finished. How lucky that you do not have to hire the tile work done. Hugs and nose kisses

    • raisingdaisy says:

Daisy does like to help, and she certainly doesn’t like being kept out of anywhere! Yes I’m very fortunate that my husband is so good with DIY projects and actually enjoys things like tile work. He completely renovated (read: completely gutted) and updated both of our bathrooms himself, and they came out beautiful. πŸ™‚ It saves us tons of money!

  17. granny1947 says:

Mex would love to do some DIY but we have nowhere for him to work.
We really need a shed in the garden or a garage.

  18. She’s adorable. I found you at Misaki’s place under sites she likes and saw your photo. Couldn’t resist stopping by to see more. You’re just too cute to resist. Paulette

  19. amkuska says:

Oh come on! Every major project needs a little canine assistance. Let her in! πŸ˜‰

Hope you guys will join us for NaNoWoofMo this year. It was so fun last year! We could really use your help in telling what happens to our homeless dog. πŸ™‚

    • raisingdaisy says:

Daisy agrees with you wholeheartedly!! We actually didn’t know about NaNoWoofMo! DD is actually participating in NaNoWriMo, so it would be perfect for us to join your project! Thanks for letting us know! πŸ™‚

  20. Coccolino says:

Daisy, did you figure out what that barrier was?! When you’re supposed to get out is when it’s fun to get in πŸ˜‰

  21. Awww Daisy!!!! So adorable!
