Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Monday Mischief: Dog Hair Gone Berserk

on December 3, 2012

Did somebody spray Daisy with a hair growth formula? Because this little Havachon is sprouting curls faster than ever before!

She gets a double coat in colder weather, but I’m talking about length. I feel like I’m running a never-ending grooming salon here! Seriously, I could trim Daisy’s hair every week if I wanted it to stay short…and if I had the time…which I don’t!

3 month old Daisy – there was WAY more hair than dog!

I missed grooming Daisy for three weeks because of the two storms, their aftermath, and everything that goes along with all that mess. Suddenly I noticed our little puppy had gotten quite fuzzy. So I took up the clippers – much to Daisy’s dismay – and ended up with what looks to me like a Dog Hair Sundae!

Doesn’t this remind you of a soft-serve sundae? LOL!

Ha! Ha! That does look like a dog hair sundae! You could make Daisy a little playmate out of that fur! LOL!

  4. What a cute puppy. I have to keep Torrey brushed good, she is getting pretty fluffy too.

Before we started clipping Daisy, I’d brush her twice and day, but it was an exercise in futility! Within minutes of each brushing, her hair would look wild again. Clipping was our only choice! 🙂

  5. what a cute baby;o) your sundae looks yummy- sundae a’la havachon ;o)

  6. Bella says:

Yeah, where’s Daisy? You clipped her away to nothing! Perhaps she’s hiding inside the sundae?

  11. She really looks like a completely differentdog as a pup, if Iwere to seethispicture I’d guess somekind of collie mix! As for the hair trim, don’t remindme Kirby has an appointment at the mommy-does-it-herslef hair salon this week! and btw yes, yes that does look like a sundae. Stay cute Daisy!

  12. Gizmo says:

That’s enuff fur to make a whole new dog! BOL! Daisy is one cute puppy

  13. Oh my, that really does look like a “dog hair sundae” – what a perfect description but what a cutie too – even if becoming a permanent salon professional.

  14. 2browndawgs says:

That is a big pile of hair. Are you sure you don’t have an extra dog there…lol.

  15. Dogs N Pawz says:

  17. Her hair grows that fast? And soft and curly. I wonder if there is anyone who knows how to spin it like lambs wool! She really is a pretty little thing! 🙂

That first pic is beyond cute!

  19. megtraveling says:

She couldn’t be any cuter! But you could always get a little sweater for her if she gets cold… 🙂

  20. onebluedog says:

You could make a whole other Daisy with all those hairs!

The same thing happens to our poodle during the winter. Because he likes to use the dog-door to visit the back yard, we feel it’s a bit cruel to groom him short when the weather is really cold. So it grows pretty long. Sooner or later we have to trim him though, and give him a coat for playing in the snow.

BTW, Paula Deen just got a Havanese. If nothing else, she might publicize the breed.

    • raisingdaisy says:

Very cool! Paula Deen’s Havanese would be Daisy’s half-cousin – Daisy is a Havachon, half Havanese and half Bichon.

If we had a doggy door we’d let Daisy’s hair get longer too. As it is she gets what the vet calls a “double coat” in winter, which helps, but we do bundle her in a winter coat when we take her out.

  22. A Daisy sundae – that’s funny!! Bet she looks super cute! I love her 3 month old pic, how gorgeous!

Beautiful Daisy and beautiful fluff. It does look like a sundae. Wonder if you could use it for stuffing a throw pillow. Hugs and nose kisses

  25. Daisy, you are an adorable fluff puppy!!! 🙂 I hope Ma doesn’t get any ideas, though. She’s dangerous with shears 😉

    Yours,
    Poppy

    • raisingdaisy says:

Sounds like you know my mom! LOL Yes she’s always whipping those clippers out – I roll over to hide my fur from her and hopefully distract her with a tummy rub….sometimes it works! 🙂

  26. What a yummy pile of fur.

  27. granny1947 says:
