Monday Mischief: Taking Advantage

on July 15, 2012

Sweet, loving little Daisy is a clever little gal. She knows when she can push the envelope – never let it be said that Daisy didn’t take advantage of a situation where humans are vulnerable.

DH’s surgery has given our little pup LOTS of exciting things to take advantage of. For one thing, he’s home for at least the next month, so she almost always has company and someone to cuddle with.

But even better in her eyes, things are a bit chaotic around here neatness-wise. Taking care of DH, running him back and forth to Physical Therapy, trying to keep up with my own work, shopping, cooking, and all the regular household chores…..something’s gotta give. And it’s keeping things neat and organized that’s drawn the short straw.

So there are piles of pillows, blankets, and robes (even the green hospital robe that’s the only thing that fits over his huge brace) strewn about on the family room sofas ALL the time. DH needs to pile things up in unusual ways just to find a position that he can sleep in for all of 30 minutes, when he’s lucky enough to catch a few zzzz’s with the steady pain he’s in. All night long he moves from sofa to chair and back again, just trying to get comfortable. Lying in bed is still out of the question for him.

This is ideal territory for Daisy. Our little Pillow Princess just loves lying on piles of soft, cushy things – the more there are, the merrier she is….and she’s been very merry lately!

This is the life!

What? Watching over DH is tiring work!

Umm…you’re not going to make me give up my throne, are you?

When all this is over, I’m going to join little Miss Daisy on those soft pillow piles and sleep for a week!

We’re having fun in the Monday Mischief blog hop! Grab the button and join in!

Hi RD…is it Monday there already?
    Still Sunday here.
A few things lying around are not the end of the world!

  2. Doggy's Style says:

Daisy knows how to seize an opportunity for sure. My house looks like a pigsty and I have no excuse other than having to pack for a week off.
Still Sunday in here, 3 more hours of Sunday lol

    • raisingdaisy says:

That’s a good enough excuse! Packing always throws me into a frenzy. It’s still Sunday here too, but since the blog hop organizers started things early, I thought I’d join in before the morning rush. πŸ™‚

Our dogs seem to revel in disorganization. Maybe they have the right answer.
Still Sunday here too, just after noon.

    • raisingdaisy says:

Haha True – we could dedicate a lot more time to fun and productive things if we didn’t mind disorganization! πŸ™‚ It’s still Sunday here too, but I saw that our wonderful Monday Mischief blog hop hosts already started things, so I thought I’d post now and save the AM rush. πŸ™‚

Those pillows were just made for her, so she’s simply making herself at home!

  5. Judy says:

Those pillows look too comfy. We always knew that Daisy liked her creature comforts πŸ™‚ Hope DH feels better soon.

Daisy is taking full advantage of your situation whilst she can – and making the most of it, judging by the photos! Calling her the ‘Pillow Princess’ is very apt!
Poppy does the same if she sees me sorting out piles of laundry – she either burrows into it or makes herself comfortable, perched precariously right on the top of it! I’m sure she thinks I’ve left it there just for her.

  7. I was thinking of the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears as I see Daisy trying each pillow until she finds the one that is “just right!” I am sure she does think this is all for her benefit…you may have a little diva on your hands when you begin to get things tidied up again! I am so sorry for all the disruption, though. Those physical therapy appointments and any extras can be so time consuming. And I’m sorry for DH’s long recovery. It would be one thing to have a month to rest if it was for a nice long vacation…this isn’t that! I hope this week is with minimal stress! πŸ™‚ Debra

Funny you should say that – we always think of the story The Princess and the Pea! I’m sure Daisy will be none too happy when things go back to normal around here.

You’re so right – all those extras are tough on time and energy, plus all of DH’s usual responsibilities around the house fall to us now, including mowing and maintaining almost an acre of property! We’re doing our best to stay on top of it, and at least we’re doing it with a sense of humor, which always helps. πŸ™‚

  8. Whew! You sure have a lot going on. Don’t let the clutter nag at you….I know you would pick it up but you are trying to be kind to Daisy πŸ™‚

  9. I’m a pillow hogger too πŸ˜€

  10. Colby says:

My pups love the pillows too! Linus actually takes the top pillow on the bed every night.

  11. 2browndawgs says:

Daisy is a cute nurse. Hope you get to relax a bit yourself soon. πŸ™‚

  12. Bassetmomma says:

Those pillows do look like an awful cozy place for Daisy to curl up on! I sure hope DH is better soon and you all can curl up and get some much needed rest! πŸ™‚

Thanks Janet! I think our biggest challenge is trying to prevent DH from pushing forward too fast, which would injure him. He’s so anxious to get back to normal, but rushing things will only set him back. The doctor said his injury was the worst he’s seen and if he does it again, there’s nothing more they can do. Scary thought.

  13. I hope DH is feeling better soon – in the meantime Daisy seems to have a great time! *waggy tail*

    Hey Daisy,

I hope DH and your Mum appreciate what a good job your doing being a 24/7 Nurse?! Even you need a little break, right?! πŸ™‚

I hope DH is feeling better soon πŸ™‚

    Wags to all,

    Your pal Snoopy πŸ™‚

  15. Kroten says:

I hope DH is feeling better by the time I read this πŸ™‚

Daisy looks like a queen on her soft throne πŸ˜‰ I also like soft pillow

  16. Chancy and Mumsy says:

We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. Hope your DH is able to sleep, rest and heal quickly very soon. Little Daisy is really enjoying all those comfy pillows we see. Don’t forget to take care of ‘you’ while you are so busy taking care of DH right now. Hugs and nose kisses from Chancy and me.

  17. Hugs DH! I hope you’re recovering beautifully. :} Awww Daisy! That’s a sweet throne you got there! Any room for some company? πŸ˜€ Happy Monday little Pillow Princess! β™₯.β™₯ *smooochy*

  18. KSO says:

Oh yes, the throne. Betty hates relinquishing hers…she hogs my pillow all the time haha!
