Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Nature’s Oceanside Glory

on June 7, 2012

A couple of weeks ago, when we took Daisy to the beach (and nature preserve) for the first time in her young little life, I once again felt the soul-enriching beauty of being completely surrounded by nature, with nothing but the call of shore birds and the rippling sounds of distant waves gliding through the inlet.

It was sheer heaven.

If you’re into nature photography like I am, you know the awe-inspiring experience of discovering those little things that tend to be overlooked or taken for granted. I thought I’d share some of those gentle beauties with you here.

Nature’s Patterns: Ripples in the inlet sand left by receding waters when the tide went out.

When is debris beautiful? When the receding sea leaves natural seaweed and driftwood on the beach in rows that look like Poseidon’s staircase.

Cactus growing naturally on the northeastern seaboard? Who knew? Just goes to show what little miracles occur when man doesn’t tamper with nature.

Is it an alien from another planet? A military helmet? Nope, just a horseshoe crab, now protected in this little paradise cove.

Look at this cool guy! I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but he’s one of the more unusual ones I’ve seen around here.

We were fortunate enough to finally see an osprey approaching its nest!

Not sure what this bird is, but his wing span was enormous!

Inlet of shallow rippling water that was fun for Daisy to explore. 🙂

I’ll stay on the lookout for more fun things!

    Hi,
Lovely photos, it looks like a beautiful spot, and that crab is definitely an alien. 😀

It’s wild looking, isn’t it?! And it’s so big! You definitely don’t want to get anywhere near that “spear” thing it’s got! Nature is so amazing. 🙂

Fantastic pictures of nature. Love them! For sure sweet, little Daisy looks precious propped up keeping a look-out. Hugs and nose kisses

Nature is amazing, and you got some good shots here – that thing that the crab calls home looks so weird – nothing is wasted in nature!
It must have been so exciting for Daisy being there, exploring a whole new world of sights and smells!

She was so excited, Barb. She loves exploring new places more than anything. Yes, that horseshoe crab shell sure is strange looking! Intimidating, to say the least!

  7. Daisy at the helm! She was having her own fun observing, wasn’t she! I loved the osprey nest. I have neither seen an osprey or its very high in the sky nest! I love nature photography, too, and one of my favorite things in blogging is noting the differences in our landscapes. The first thing I noticed was that the seaweed looks very different from what washes ashore on California beach. And the birds are also unfamiliar to me, but beautiful! I really enjoyed your photos. What a wonderful place to just let go! Ahhhhh! Debra

    • raisingdaisy says:

Thanks Debra! That’s exactly what places like this do – they enable you to just let go of everything and make you feel like you’ve been on a mini-vacation. It’s hard going back to the “real world”!

  8. the beach at the far end of the second pic makes wanna be there, with my towel, a cold drink and a good book all day long, but I gotta be happy with the view of river and the ducks in here lol.
