Monday Mischief Backfire – Sometimes Silliness Just Doesn’t Pay

on March 12, 2012

Daisy loves to race around the house like the silly little nut she is, especially if someone’s trying to catch her to give her a bath or put her harness on. Or sometimes for no reason at all.

She goes so fast that it looks like her back legs want to pass her front legs. I don’t think there’s even a camera speed that can stop that action!

Daisy racing in the snow last year. One of our friends has nicknamed her "The Blur". 😀

The other day Daisy was curled up on my lap, and I was stroking her lightly. Very lightly. When my fingers ran over a spot on her left side, she made a small sound of complaint, and her entire side pulled in.

I’ve never seen her do that before. I thought maybe I’d hit a ticklish spot and it annoyed her. So I did it again just to see if it was a one-off. Nope. I did it a third time just to be sure. Each time, the same result. Anywhere else was fine, but that one spot bothered her.

Broken rib? But how could that have possibly happened?

Maybe it's weird, twisted sleeping positions like this that cause problems - ya think, Miss Daisy??

I mentioned it to DD, who solved the mystery.

Silly little Daisy had been racing around and around the coffee table in the family room when she cut the corner a little too tight one time and hit her side on the corner of a footstool we keep tucked underneath. DD said Daisy stopped in her tracks, looking a bit stunned, seemed to think about it for a second, then walked away.

I used to fit under here and zip around the corners with no problem....did the table shrink??

Which just goes to prove – sometimes puppy mischief can backfire!

Come join us in the Monday Mischief blog hop and meet lots of other new pet friends!

Poor Daisy. Hope she is feeling better soon. Freighter is always running into things…lol. I don’t think his coordination has fully kicked in yet. He gets going faster than he can stop or turn.

  2. Awwww, poor Daisy. Silly pup, be careful and feel better soon.

Oh poor Daisy! She probably bruised a rib. Hopefully she’s back to being a blur soon! LOL!

    Hello RD.
What a gorgeous pic under the table.
Your post reminded me of Jasmine when she was a puppy.
She was chasing Tom when he jumped from an armchair onto the kitchen counter.
She tried to do the same thing.
She caught her chin on the counter top.
Never tried to do that again.
Think that was when she realised she wasn’t a cat!!!!

    At least Daisy is resilient!

  6. tables and chairs could shrink…that’s what i’ve observed… TLC and treats often work wonders in the healing process…xoxox Vanilla Bean

  8. Yep! Just like preschoolers! Cut the corners short and BOOM! Lots of stroking works for both, too, don’t you think? Debra

  9. Hey Daisy, Jet here. Aw, sorry you incurred an ouchie. Now that your human knows, they will watch it for you and give you extra lovies. Mom found some ouchies under my fur the other day during one of my brushings. Now she is gently monitoring the area.

Watch those corners, they can jump out at you sometimes.

  10. Oh Dear Daisy,

You gotta learn to take the racing lines on those corners!!

I hope you’re better soon buddy,

    Sending you hugs!!

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  11. Big hugs Daisy, you got to watch where you’re going darling. :} The photo of Daisy under the table is so beautiful. And i absolutely LOVE her racing in the snow picture. I’m tempted to right click and save image as Cute Daisy Dashing through the Snow. I wish we had snow here! Poppy will be so thrilled! 😀

That racing picture is one of my favorites – it really shows how much fun she’s having! (And you’re most welcome to right click it! 🙂 ) Daisy has much more fun in snow than in the summer because the heat really bothers her. Sometimes, when it’s really hot, she refuses to go out at all!

      • Yay! i just did it! Thank you Daisy Mommy. :] This picture is too cute, every time i see it, my heart flutters a little 🙂 Popcorn is accustomed to the heat where we’re at. If she’s waiting for the winter, she’ll be awaiting forever to get the chance to smell the outside air. 😛

      • raisingdaisy says:

Haha! Good thing Popcorn got used to heat right away! I keep Daisy’s hair short in the summer, but even that didn’t help. She’s just a natural snowbaby, I guess. 😉

      • heehee snowbaby. You’re so lucky Daisy baby! Your mommy looks out for you. =} hugs and snuggles!

  12. Chancy, Mumsy and Crew says:

Oh, sweet Daisy we are sorry about the sore place and hope it heals quickly. Wow! That is some kind of sleeping position…we can’t tell heads from tails. 🙂 Hugs and nose kisses

    • raisingdaisy says:

My family laughs at the way I’ll twist my body just so part of me can rest on them, yet I still get comfy and fall asleep – sometimes they think I’m made of rubber! 😉
