But They Promised Us SNOW!!

on March 1, 2012

What a frustrating winter! Yesterday they promised us snow, so we happily waited for this:

But instead, we had gray skies and this:

Whoever heard of daffodils blooming in FEBRUARY – in the northeast! And look at the height of the full-sized daffodil stalks behind the minis – they should only just be breaking through the ground!

We love winter, we love snow. We really missed them this year. All we got was this little 1-2 inch tease in early January that melted in two days:

A small smattering of snow

But then, at the end of the day, this unseasonably warm weather graces us with this stunningly rich treasure, and all’s right with the world again:

I guess its just global warming…Sigh…So Daisy didn’t get to sniff around in the snow this time…Oh well…Sunsets are beautiful though…Are you in Pennsylvania, by any chance? Just curious.

No, we’re not in PA, but that’s my ultimate goal. I have my eye on two places when we eventually move (not in the cards yet though!) – one is a small mountain town I love, and the other is a county that runs along the river, complete with tow paths and plenty of natural areas, which I also love. The second place I mentioned also has a lot of nice small artsy towns – I’d choose one of those. Both choices are filled with friendly people and interesting things; in my mind, I’m already there! πŸ™‚

Doesn’t it just drive you nuts when they tell you you’re going to get snow and you get all excited….then nothing! We love our snow here too. We’ve had a little more than you but not much. I can’t believe how tall your daffodils are! My Tiger Lilies started coming up in January and we had buds on our lilac bushes! Daisy must miss Romping in the snow! 😦

I’m sure she does – and so do we! LOL I heard that all this unseasonably warm weather is causing all types of plants to bloom early and that it cause problems for the plants. At this rate, we’ll be starting our outdoor herb garden in March!

  3. Personally, we (Tiffy and I) are thrilled with the lack of snow this year. We had enough snow last year to last us for many years to come:) Love the pics of Daisy in the snow:)

    • raisingdaisy says:

Last year certainly was a very generous snow year! Getting trapped in the house under 5-6 feet of snow for a week wasn’t the best, but if only it would be evenly distributed with 3-5 inches a couple times a month throughout winter, we’d be thrilled! (We’re not too specific, ya think? πŸ˜‰ )

Bummer about the lack of snow. We had to head north to find it ourselves.

Looks like Daisy quite likes having fun in the snow! Shame you didn’t get any to talk about this year – but the beautiful sunsets and seeing the daffodils already flowering, are an awesome compensation!
Poppy has never seen snow – I wonder what she’d think of it? Probably be scared of it no doubt – she is timid of anything new or different!

    • raisingdaisy says:

It would be interesting to see Poppy’s reaction to snow – not only is it totally different for her, but it’s a much more extreme temperature than she’s used to. Daisy will be experiencing something very new soon too – we’re taking her to the beach. I can’t wait to see her reaction to sand and waves, not to mention all the new scents!

  6. Hey Daisy,

Yeah everyone seems surprised by the weather this year!! We haven’t even had Winter yet and given all the flowers I don’t think it’s gonna come!! We’ve had only a handful of days of rain, absolutely no chance of Snow here – sigh!!

But like you say, you got a beautiful Sunset and I know my Mum is happy it’s been so warm and Sunny!! πŸ™‚

    Have a fun weekend,

    Your pal Snoopy πŸ™‚

  7. We just got a ton of snow, I’ll send you some. BOL

You can have some of our snow any day!! I’m so looking forward it to melting… We still probably have another month or so to go before any daffodils bloom here… *sigh*

Winter this year HAS been weird I till you. In Nashville, NO snow. Well one day of some fluff if you want to call that snow!! I really missed snow too! O well, maybe it will be Santa time soon enough and we can ask him for some snow for the next year.

P.S. I am having a St.Patrick’s Day contest on my blog and would LOVE for you to participate!!!

  10. Poor Daisy! It’s just not the same without her playing in the snow! Better luck next year. It’s a good thing that Daisy doesn’t live in Florida. It would be fake snow. I doubt that Daisy would like playing in soapsuds. Ha! Ha! It does look pretty though.

Those pictures are a sight to behold. They are gorgeous. The sunsets are beautiful too. πŸ™‚
