Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

What We’re Doing During This Unbearably Hot Summer….

on August 3, 2011

It hasn’t been what we’d call a “fun” summer – it’s been SO hot and humid that none of the neighborhood kids are even playing outside and hardly anybody is even barbecuing!! We were more active during all those heavy snow days – at least we could breathe when we went outside!

This hot weather poops me out!

It’s been over 100 degrees and HUMID, so the heat index is still 110+. But we NEVER miss the county fair, so we went last weekend in the evening instead of during the day – the temps actually went UP 2 degrees and the humidity got worse! That’s just crazy! If you didn’t carry around a big ice cold lemonade or some such drink, you just melted away into a big puddle.

So all of our outdoor plans for Daisy have been curtailed for the most part – she can’t stand excessive heat and runs to lie in the shade almost immediately. So instead of going here and there to explore new outdoor places, we turned this:

and this:

into this:

Chocolate covered blueberry clusters

MORE chocolate covered blueberry clusters!

We may be stuck indoors, but we’re having a great time with summer fruits! 😉

Sorry to hear your weather has been so awful. It has cooled down significantly around here – in the 80s. Your desserts look delicious:) I never thought of making chocolate covered blueberries…I’ll have to give it a try:)

Years ago we had chocolate covered blueberry clusters at Thomas Sweet and we’ve been addicted to them ever since. They taste even better when you make them at home – we use blueberries straight from the farm market and use one of our favorite dark chocolates – you can’t go wrong!

    Oh wow…that looks scrumptious.
I know just how Daisy feels.
    I hate the heat too.
    Nice and cool here tonight.

We are dealing with the same heat here plus a burn ban because of no rain so there is nothing going on outside around here. Wow!!! You found something quite yummy to munch on I see. I never heard of the chocolate blueberry clusters but they look and sound delicious. Enjoy! Stay safe and cool. Hugs and nose kisses for all from all of us.

  4. Those berries look delicious! I feel you on the heat! We’re in an advisory until 7pm, I’m avoiding the outdoors at all costs.

  5. Oh yum, that fruit looks good-although i’ve never tried blueberries and chocolate together, I think I’m going to now! It’s been horribly hot and humid too over here, it’s pretty bad the air is so thick and hot and we can’t stand to be outside more than five minutes!

    • raisingdaisy says:

I know exactly what you mean! Five minutes outside and sweat is already pouring, poor Daisy is panting, and everyone is miserable. It’s just not worth it!

If you do try chocolate covered blueberries, I hope you enjoy them. We first tried them at Thomas Sweet and loved them. 🙂

Your choc treats look yummy! Hope you are able to get out soon and work off some of that chocolate! There’s always a drawback to yummy food, it’s not fair is it?

  7. Yes the weather is hot and humid here too Daisy. No kids playing outside. The two cats don’t go to the window to look for the birds and squirrels either. But on the other hand chocolate covered Anything lights my fire_ I am on my way over_ xoxoxo Jackie

  8. Go away, humidity! You’re not wanted here!

Mother Nature has been relentless on the Midwestern, Southern and New England states. Hopefully the air cools down for you before summer’s end.

We’ve limited Oscar’s playtime to mornings and evenings only and keep him cooped up inside (perfect time for naps). As for me, I’ve been reading hot afternoons away. 😀

What a great way to spend summer afternoons! Those September school assignments kids write about “what I did on my summer vacation” are going to be pretty dull this year…. LOL! 😉

Chocolate covered strawberries and blueberries sound better than hanging out in the great (hot and humid) outdoors to me. But seriously, this weather has cramped our training schedule although it is starting to cool off a bit. Love the picture of snoozing Daisy.

  10. Those goodies sure look yummy – shame Daisy can’t have them! 😦 Sure she’s getting yummy stuff too! Glad it’s not as hot here, that can’t be much fun! Have you got a little water pool Daisy?

Hope you can have a chilled day,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Daisy LOVES watermelon, and thankfully it’s safe for dogs, so she gets to crunch away on that, which makes her VERY happy! 😀 We really want to see how Daisy would react to a small pool – she hates bathes so much, I’m not sure if she’d see pools in the same light! We’re going to try running her through the sprinkler this weekend. 🙂

Your sure tempting Daisy and me. I know I shouldn’t eat chocolate but it looks SO good! The hot weather is here to- our berries are grown in the winter here, so my humans AND me are pigging out on WATERMELON! That’s a double Woof yummy!

Great summer post! Veru cool – get it?

  13. Hot and humid, eh? Welcome to my world…365 days of the year! Lol, Daisy looks like she has the right idea of taking an afternoon snooze. As for us humans, well, there’s no better way to drown our sorrows about the heat than with chocolate covered berries. YUMMY!

    • raisingdaisy says:

Oh ugh! I don’t think I could handle this kind of weather all year round – I give you a lot of credit!

Yes, in our house, we can always find a good excuse for a chocolate moment! 😉
