Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

The Post Formerly Known As “Rain, Rain Go Away….”

on May 19, 2011

…but I didn’t want to call it that because my blogging buddy Daily Bailey scooped me on the title! LOL! Both of our dogs have the same reaction to rainy days – they get lazy and enjoy a good loll about the house. I guess it’s the Bichon in Daisy, eh Bailey? 😀

Not much outdoor time for Daisy this week. We’ve had rain, rain, and more rain with dark gray cloudy skies and thunder in between. Whatever happened to “April showers bring May flowers”? Seems to me like this year, April showers have just brought more May showers.

So now this:

Has turned into this:

And this:

Has turned into this:

Frankly, I prefer the snow. At least we can take Daisy out to play in it, and it’s so beautiful. (Rain can be beautiful too, but not when it lasts a whole week and floods the yard!)

And then there’s the work involved. When Daisy goes out in the snow, she comes back in and simply gets blow-dried. On rainy days, she has to be bathed – she’s so low to the ground that she comes in with a muddy underside, muddy legs, and muddy paws. Not to mention that wonderful “wet dog smell”…yuck. And I don’t even want to talk about what happens when she inevitably shakes herself off before we can get her into the bath!

Oh, poor Daisy! She looks absolutely sopping wet in that last picture! I hope you get some May sunshine soon 🙂

You guys have still had snow? Or are those old photos from winter?

I know exactly how you feel about the rain, although I must say Daisy looks adorable soaking wet. We have to do the same thing with Bailey as well. In the winter with the snow, we need to blow dry his belly because he gets clumps of snow snuck to his fur. When its rainy, a lot of times he needs a good bath or rinsing because his belly and legs get so dirty. It is times like that that I wish he was a big dog and not so close to the ground.

No, those are photos from winter. I just like seeing how different the same area looks depending on the season.

Our last dog was big – a Shepherd/Collie/Husky mix – and obviously we never had this issue with her, so it wasn’t something we even thought about until it happened!

We’ve been getting lots of rain too. I love the rain pics of Daisy…so cute:)

  4. Poor Daisy,

And there was me moaning cos we had a couple of days of rain. It’s now back to sunny and we don’t expect any more rain (maybe I shouldn’t have mentioned that, ok, I won’t post a pic) 🙂

I’m sending you some sunshine, hope you get it! 🙂

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

  5. Sopping wet Daisy is sooo cute!

Sorry to hear about all your rain – your backyard is SOAKED!! Please send some rain our direction, we’d be more than happy to take it off your hands. 🙂

LOL I’d love to share it! Yes, the yard is flooded, and our yard doesn’t usually flood. It’ll take days of sunshine to dry it out – there’s too much for the ground to soak up!

Haha these pictures are great. Poor curly haired lap dogs – they always look like little water animals when they’re hair gets soaking wet (Evee is about 1/2 the size wet as she is dry). And does Daisy eat snow? It looks like she shoved her whole face into the ground lol.

    • raisingdaisy says:

She sure did shove her face into the snow! She did eat some, but not too much. It was her first experience with snow, so she was testing it out all sorts of ways.

Daisy also looks half her size when wet. I need to take a picture of that, because her pink skin shows right through her white hair – it’s so funny!

  7. Aw, Oscar bums around the house on rainy days, too. He actually throws himself into bed after his treadmill session and refuses to do anything until it’s time for meals. 😛

I’m sorry daisy was drenched, but at least she looked cute!
