Everyday Adventures in Havachon Heaven

The Good, Crazy, & Adorable Life of One Havachon Puppy

Daisy, the Ice Princess

on February 13, 2014

And so it came about a week ago, just as predicted – a snow storm followed by an ice storm. I think the winter of 2014 is making up for all those years that we haven’t had a proper winter!

MORE snow?? Wow, we've had more snow this year than I've seen in my entire 3 years! :)

MORE snow is on its way?? Wow, we’ve had more snow this year than I’ve seen in my entire 3 years!

Daisy was kept very busy inside, sounding off her doggy-alarm every time a chunk of ice or snow fell off the roof and smashed onto the ground. To be fair, the ice and snow are so heavy that they did sound like they were ripping off part of the house.

AND NOW WE’RE GETTING ANOTHER SNOW/ICE STORM TODAY INTO TOMORROW – our sixth this winter! Right on top of the many, many inches of snow still on the ground! This is the storm that crippled Atlanta, Georgia yesterday. With the high winds we’re getting, they’re saying this may actually be classified as a blizzard.  I’m not surprised, there are near-white-out conditions outside right now (as you can see by the lack of clarity in the photo). Here’s what I woke up to, and we have a l-o-n-g way yet to go (possibly 14″!).

Just the start of the latest snowstorm in a record-breaking snow season!

So what’s the best thing for a chilly puppy to do after using up so much energy protecting us from all that falling ice and running through the snow outside?

  1. Daisy, that’s the best what we can do, to hibernate in a “blankie-castle”. Please be careful and stay safe.

Haha Yes you’re right! It’s my favorite place to be….although my family keeps following me around with paper towels and a bottle of Nature’s Miracle because I won’t go outside during the storm….

  2. Oh my gosh, that makes me cold just looking at it! Stay safe and warm.

    • raisingdaisy says:

We just hope we don’t lose power, which they say is a high probability because of the ice and winds – this house would get awfully cold awfully fast! Any mobile home spaces available in those lovely warm deserts out there? ;)

  3. FleaByte says:

Y’know, we’ve been making up for all those winters without cold and snow, too, but not nearly as much as you have. I’m jealous. I mean, it’s supposed to be 60 here today, but I’m still jealous … ;)

  4. Marcie says:

Looks like a great place to cozy up when it’s so cold and snowy out.

  5. Kuruk says:

I would keep you warm Daisy! Woooooowooooooo!

  6. OMD 14 inches! I think that is what we got a couple of weeks ago. It still hasn’t all melted. We’re used to snow, but this is the deepest it has ever been since I’ve lived here. But more unusual still is the colder weather. We very seldom get temperatures in the single digits or the teens during the day. At night, yes, but our winter days are usually warmer.

Thanks so much for joining Barks and Bytes!! We are getting that storm too, although right now we have a lull, BUT they say it will swing back into a full on sometime later tonight. We had a big chunk of ice come off the house last night that got the humans up and checking things out, the dogs weren’t phased in the least by it. LOL

    Hope you stay warm!!

My goodness, so much snow…stay warm Daisy, snuggled up in those blankies; I mean, what else can you do? You look as snug as a bug in a rug!

    Hi Y’all!

We’re still in a state of emergency here in the deep south, although our area got their power restored a little bit ago. We had no water, phone when the power went out.

Daisy is so cute. Does she wear boots outside? If not how do you get the snow out of all that hair?

    Y’all come by now,
    Hawk aka BrownDog

LOL Daisy is hidden right in there. What a crummy winter. Phooey. Has the snow made problems for Daisy’s leg?

Thanks so much for joining Barks and Bytes. :)

  11. You’d think in some ways we wouldn’t be either so aware, or necessarily inconvenienced by these terrible storms. But even today I was caught in a conversation as a coworker was desperately trying to change a flight from CA to NY. The tickets were booked before today’s storm (blizzard) and of course, nothing was flying into NY. Everyone was jockeying for the next available flight. So really, the whole country is badly affected by these back to back storms. Daisy has the right idea. I think everyone should just crawl into some pajamas and wrap up in a warm blanket and pretty much stay put until maybe mid-March. Doesn’t that sound reasonable? I send a warm hug. It might just keep you from freezing!

I would just curl up with Daisy till Spring, I am sure she makes a great “hot water bottle” ;)

  13. Hope you folks are staying warm. We got sleet last night and now they are saying warm weather tomorrow. Don’t understand this crazy weather! Happy Valentine’s to the sweetest little sleepy girl!

  14. Misaki says:

Look at all that lovely snow!!

  15. Kurome says:

Hahahaha that looks soooo comfy. I would do the same. I hope everyone is alright and wishing that the snow storm will pass soon :)

  16. megtraveling says:

It’s a good thing that she is protecting you from the ice – it keeps you safe!

  17. KDKH says:

How is Daisy’s knee holding up? It looks like she’s able to use it for all walking around. All healed up?

    • raisingdaisy says:

Thanks so much for asking! (Sorry, I’m far behind on blogging!) She’s doing much better but yet she still likes to hop around the house sometimes. We’re not sure if it’s just habit at this point because she can use that leg to jump and run with no problem – she even extends it fully when stretching, which she couldn’t do before. So with these mixed signals, we’re not sure if she has any discomfort or not. But generally she’s doing very well! :)

  18. Coccolino says:

Brrrr….looks just like here! You look nice and cozy inside :-)

  19. kolytyi says:

OMG, Daisy, what a massive fail is that massive snowfall! I think you got our snow, too!!! We have this year no winter but autumn and spring by turns!

  20. Clowie says:

Everyone seems to be having some strange weather this winter. The snow makes a lot of noise when it slides off our roof. Keep warm!

  21. snoopys@snoopysdogblog says:

It’s crazy just how much snow you guys are getting! Wowzer!

When Mum and Dad came home at the weekend they were all happy that it was 75F here in California! I think we might get a little rain from tomorrow, but can’t imagine it will last long…..

    Stay warm my friend,

    Your pal Snoopy :)
